Historical Information
The four Kidd-class guided-missile destroyers were originally ordered for Iran but were taken over by the U.S. Navy after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Combining the Spruance-class hull with enhanced air-defense systems, they served the U.S. Navy from the early 1980s through the late 1990s. All four were later transferred to Taiwan, where they entered Republic of China Navy service as the Kee Lung class.
