Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V-B Trop

The Spitfire Mk Vb/Trop was a tropicalized version of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb fighter aircraft, specially adapted for use in desert and tropical climates. The main distinguishing feature was the large Vokes air filter fitted under the nose to prevent dust and sand from damaging the engine. These aircraft saw extensive service in the Mediterranean and North African campaigns, including Malta.
