Lavochkin La-5

The Lavochkin La-5 (Лавочкин Ла-5) was one of the Soviet Union's most successful WWII fighter aircraft, credited with helping turn the tide on the Eastern Front. Introduced in July 1942, it was a desperate but brilliant development of the underpowered LaGG-3, created by fitting a powerful radial engine onto a modernized wooden airframe.
