Historical Information
Hosho was Japan's first purpose-built aircraft carrier and one of the world's earliest ships designed from the keel up for carrier operations. Laid down by Asano Shipbuilding and completed at Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, she was commissioned in 1922 and became a foundational training and development platform for Japanese naval aviation.
