Nieuport 28

The Nieuport 28 was a French-built World War I fighter aircraft. It is most famous for being the first fighter flown in combat by American pilots. Although considered obsolete by the French, it served as a stop-gap for the arriving U.S. Army Air Service, enabling American airmen to begin combat operations in the spring of 1918.
