The Macchi C.205 Veltro was a premier Italian WWII fighter used primarily from mid-1943 to 1945 by the Regia Aeronautica and the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana (ANR) in the Mediterranean, particularly over Sicily, Tunisia, and the defense of Rome. It also served with the German Luftwaffe and later the Royal Egyptian Air Force in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
