The Macchi C.202 Folgore was primarily used by the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force) during World War II as a premier fighter, serving extensively in the North African campaign (1941-1943), the siege of Malta, and the defense of Sicily and the Italian mainland. It was also deployed in limited numbers on the Eastern Front.
