Historical Background
The Airco D.H.4 was a highly successful British two-seat reconnaissance and day-bomber aircraft designed by Geoffrey de Havilland.
Entering operational service with the Royal Flying Corps during 1917, the D.H.4 combined good speed and performance with useful bombing capability and defensive armament. It was operated by both the RFC and Royal Naval Air Service during the war.
