The Avro Lancaster B Mk.I Special was used by the RAF's 617 Squadron in the final months of WWII (March–April 1945) to drop 22,000 lb Grand Slam earthquake bombs on hardened German targets. Key targets included railway viaducts at Bielefeld and Arnsberg, U-boat shelters at Farge and Hamburg, and bridges.
