Avro Anson

The Avro Anson was a pivotal British twin-engine, multi-role aircraft widely used during World War II, primarily as a trainer within the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Known as "Faithful Annie," it served in early maritime reconnaissance and coastal patrol roles.

Roles: While initially used for anti-submarine patrols, it was quickly relegated to training, transport, and communications duties due to being outclassed by faster aircraft.
Production & Use: Over 11,000 were built (including ~3,000 in Canada), and it was used by the RAF, RCAF, RAAF, and RNZAF.
