1-144 German WWI Iron Cross Style #3

This 1/144 scale German WWI Iron Cross Style #3 decal sheet provides a distinct cross pattée variation for modeling Imperial German aircraft from the period before the straight-sided Balkenkreuz was introduced.
Historical Background
The black cross pattée, commonly called the “Iron Cross,” was the principal German aircraft national marking during most of World War I. Period photographs show substantial variation in arm shape, proportions, white fields, and border thickness. These differences reflected changing instructions as well as factory and unit application. In mid-April 1918, the straight-sided Balkenkreuz replaced the earlier cross pattée style on German aircraft.
Available Sheet Sizes
Large: intended for most Gotha-size bombers, very large fighters, and gunships. Zeppelin-Staaken aircraft require larger markings.
Medium: suitable for many bombers and larger fighters such as Fokker D-series, Roland, and Pfalz types.
Small: useful for small rudders and smaller fighters such as Albatros, Fokker E.III, and Halberstadt D.II types.
Use photographs of the individual aircraft whenever possible to choose the most appropriate Iron Cross style.
