1-144 German WWI Iron Cross Style #2

This 1/144 scale German WWI Iron Cross Style #2 decal sheet provides another common variation of the black cross pattée used as a German aircraft national marking before the introduction of the Balkenkreuz in 1918.
Historical Background
German aircraft used the cross pattée, often referred to as the “Iron Cross,” throughout most of World War I. Its proportions and presentation were not completely uniform. Some aircraft carried the cross on a larger light field, while later applications frequently used a contrasting white border around the black cross. In mid-April 1918, the German Air Service began replacing this family of markings with the straight-sided Balkenkreuz.
Available Sheet Sizes
Large: intended for most Gotha-size bombers, very large fighters, and gunships. Zeppelin-Staaken aircraft require larger markings.
Medium: suitable for many bombers and larger fighters such as Fokker D-series, Roland, and Pfalz types.
Small: useful for small rudders and smaller fighters such as Albatros, Fokker E.III, and Halberstadt D.II types.
