This is an ErikGen design. We are an approved printer for EriKGen designs. His exquisite STLs can be purchased and self printed here: EriKGen Designs.
Note: Do not expect the fuel probe to survive shipping at 1-300 or 1-285 scale. I do ship extra replacements with each print so look for them in the bubble wrap bag.
The Grumman A-6 Intruder was primarily used by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as their main all-weather, medium-attack aircraft from the 1960s through the 1990s. It was used extensively for close-air support, precision strike, and interdiction during the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and operations in Lebanon and Libya.
Key Locations and Conflicts:
- Vietnam War: The A-6 made its combat debut here, operating from aircraft carriers and land bases for all-weather, day/night bombing missions.
- Lebanon (1980s): Used by the Multinational Force for operations.
- Gulf of Sidra/Libya (1986): Operated during Operation El Dorado Canyon, specifically in actions against Libyan air defenses and targets.
- Gulf War (1991): U.S. Navy and Marine Corps A-6s flew over 4,700 combat sorties, conducting deep-strike missions against Iraqi targets.
- Global Operations: Served aboard carriers during routine deployments and operations like Operation Southern Watch.
The Intruder served for over three decades (entering service in 1963) before being replaced by the F/A-18 Hornet and officially retired in 1997.
