Historical Information
Zuiho was converted from the submarine tender Takasaki and commissioned as a light aircraft carrier in 1940. She served in support of major fleet operations from the Midway period through the later carrier battles of 1944.

- Entry into Service: Entered service as part of Japan's growing light-carrier force before the Pacific War.
- Major Campaigns: The Midway operation, the Guadalcanal campaign, the Philippine Sea, and Leyte Gulf.
- Notable Operations: Supported fleet carrier operations and later served with Japan's carrier forces during the battles of 1944.
- Combat Service: Saw repeated wartime service, including carrier operations around the Solomons and in the Central Pacific.
- Fate / Postwar Disposition: Sunk by U.S. carrier aircraft during the Battle off Cape Engano on 25 October 1944.
