Historical Context

The 733rd Bombardment Squadron served with the 453rd Bombardment Group, which operated B-24 Liberators with the U.S. Eighth Air Force from RAF Old Buckenham in Norfolk, England. Beginning combat operations in 1944, the group attacked industrial, transportation and military targets across occupied Europe and Germany.

The 453rd's B-24s took part in the large daylight formations that became characteristic of the Eighth Air Force campaign. Bold high-visibility tail and squadron markings helped crews identify their own group during assembly and maintain formation discipline over England and continental Europe.

This sheet represents the 733rd Bombardment Squadron's high-visibility marking period and is intended for historically accurate 1-300 B-24 Liberator models.

Please Note: U.S. Star & Bar roundels are not included with this sheet and must be purchased separately.
