Historical Context
The de Havilland DH.112 Venom is a British post-war jet aircraft that served as a fighter-bomber and night fighter. Developed from the successful de Havilland Vampire, it featured a more powerful de Havilland Ghost engine and a thinner wing design with a swept leading edge to improve performance at high speeds. 
Key Technical Specifications
Top Speed: Approximately 640 mph (1,030 kph).
Engine: One de Havilland Ghost turbojet.
Armament: Typically four 20mm Hispano cannons and underwing points for bombs or RP-3 rockets.
Configuration: Retained the signature twin-boom tail and wooden/metal composite fuselage of its predecessor.
Distinctive Feature: Easily identified by its permanent wingtip fuel tanks, which improved aerodynamic efficiency. 
Service and Variants
The Venom first flew in 1949 and entered RAF service in 1952. It played a critical role as an interim fighter-bomber before the introduction of swept-wing aircraft like the Hawker Hunter. 
FB.1 & FB.4: The primary single-seat fighter-bomber versions used by the RAF and exported widely.
NF.2 & NF.3: Two-seat night fighter variants equipped with radar and side-by-side seating.
Sea Venom: A navalized version with folding wings, a tailhook, and strengthened landing gear for aircraft carrier operations.
Swiss Service: Switzerland was the largest export customer and built the aircraft under license; they were the last to retire the type in 1983. Swiss models are often recognized by an elongated "Pinocchio" nose designed to house additional electronics.

The Venom saw combat in several Cold War conflicts, including:
The Suez Crisis (1956): Used extensively for ground attack missions.
Malayan Emergency: Provided air support against communist insurgents.
