Historical Information
The Zumwalt class was developed as a next-generation stealthy guided-missile destroyer with an integrated electric-drive architecture, reduced radar signature, advanced sensors, and large peripheral vertical-launch cells. Three ships were built. The class has evolved from its original land-attack emphasis toward long-range strike and surface-warfare missions while serving as a platform for advanced naval technologies.
