Pre-War Teak Deck represents the lighter natural wood appearance of U.S. Navy carrier flight decks before wartime blue deck stains became standard. Exposure to sunlight, salt air, weather, and flight operations could produce variations in teak and weathered wood tones.
 
Historical Information
The USS Yorktown (CV-5) was the lead ship of the Yorktown class and was commissioned on September 30, 1937. Her design combined speed, aircraft capacity, and range in a highly effective prewar fleet carrier.
 
During World War II, Yorktown fought at the Battle of the Coral Sea and returned to action after rapid repairs for the Battle of Midway. Japanese carrier aircraft crippled her at Midway, and she was later struck by torpedoes from submarine I-168 and sank on June 7, 1942.
