The U.S. Navy announced the name in January 2025, honoring the 42nd President of the United States. CVN-82 will continue the Ford-class program’s emphasis on nuclear-powered endurance, increased electrical capacity, modern aircraft-launch and recovery systems, improved flight-deck efficiency, and reduced life-cycle operating requirements.
