Historical Information
Commissioning: USS Thetis Bay (CVE-90) was a Casablanca-class escort aircraft carrier built by Kaiser Shipbuilding Company at Vancouver, Washington, and commissioned on 21 April 1944.
Major Campaigns & Notable Operations: Performed aircraft and personnel ferry missions and aviation replenishment duties across the Pacific, helping sustain carrier forces during the final year of the war.
Combat Service: Her wartime role was primarily logistical rather than direct combat, followed by Operation Magic Carpet. In the 1950s she was converted into the Navy's first assault helicopter carrier, initially designated CVHA-1 and later LPH-6.
Ultimate Fate / Postwar Disposition: Decommissioned after World War II, recommissioned following helicopter-carrier conversion, and ultimately disposed of in the mid-1960s.
The deck treatment represented by this decal reflects the faded grey-blue appearance of weathered wartime flight-deck stain.
