Pre-War Teak Deck represents the lighter natural wood appearance of U.S. Navy carrier flight decks before wartime blue deck stains became standard. Exposure to sunlight, salt air, weather, and flight operations could produce variations in teak and weathered wood tones.
 
Historical Information
The USS Saratoga (CV-3) was a Lexington-class aircraft carrier and the U.S. Navy’s first fast carrier. Originally laid down as a battlecruiser, she was converted under the Washington Naval Treaty and commissioned on November 16, 1927.
 
Saratoga helped develop American carrier tactics before World War II. During the war, she supported operations at Guadalcanal, the Eastern Solomons, Bougainville, Rabaul, the Gilbert and Marshall Islands, and Iwo Jima. She also operated with the British Eastern Fleet and trained night-fighter squadrons.
