USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) MS Blue — 1-2400 Scale Deck Decal
Historically accurate 1-2400 scale light aircraft carrier deck decal representing USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) in the MS Blue configuration.
Historical Information
The USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) was an Independence-class light aircraft carrier operated by the United States Navy. She was one of nine carriers in her class, converted from Cleveland-class light-cruiser hulls, and was commissioned on December 15, 1943.
Designed to combine cruiser speed with a compact carrier flight deck, the Independence class provided fast-carrier task forces with additional fighter protection and strike capacity throughout the Pacific War.
Aircraft Complement: Typically about 33 aircraft in late-war service, commonly organized around approximately 24 Grumman F6F Hellcat fighters and 9 Grumman TBF/TBM Avenger torpedo bombers. The exact complement varied by date, mission, and assigned air group.
Wartime Service: San Jacinto supported operations in the Marianas, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and strikes against Japan. Future U.S. President George H. W. Bush flew as a naval aviator from the carrier during 1944.
Fate: San Jacinto was decommissioned in 1947, remained in the reserve fleet, and was sold for scrapping in 1971.
