Historical Information
The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is the ninth ship of the Nimitz class. Built by Newport News Shipbuilding, she was commissioned on July 12, 2003 and named for the 40th President of the United States.
Ronald Reagan supported Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, provided humanitarian assistance following natural disasters in the Philippines, and played a major role in Operation Tomodachi after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. From 2015 to 2024 she served as the U.S. Navy’s forward-deployed carrier in Japan, conducting extensive Indo-Pacific patrols, alliance exercises, and regional-presence missions.
