Historical Information
USS Rendova (CVE-114) was built by Todd-Pacific Shipyards at Tacoma, Washington, and commissioned on 22 October 1945, too late to serve in World War II. Recommissioned after the outbreak of the Korean War, she deployed to Korean waters in 1951 with Marine Fighter Squadron 212, whose Corsairs flew close air support, reconnaissance, blockade, and strike missions from the Yellow Sea; Rendova earned two battle stars for Korean War service. She later supported atomic-test and antisubmarine-warfare operations. Rendova was decommissioned on 30 June 1955, reclassified AKV-14, struck from the Navy List in 1971, and sold for disposal in 1972.
