Pre-War Teak Deck represents the lighter natural wood appearance of U.S. Navy carrier flight decks before wartime blue deck stains became standard. Exposure to sunlight, salt air, weather, and flight operations could produce variations in teak and weathered wood tones.
 
Historical Information
The USS Lexington (CV-2) was a Lexington-class aircraft carrier converted from a battlecruiser under the Washington Naval Treaty. Commissioned on December 14, 1927, she became one of the U.S. Navy’s first large fleet carriers and helped develop American carrier doctrine before World War II.
 
Nicknamed “Lady Lex,” Lexington served in the Pacific and fought in the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942. After being struck by Japanese bombs and torpedoes, fires and internal explosions forced her abandonment, and she was scuttled by an American destroyer.
