Pre-War Teak Deck represents the lighter natural wood appearance of U.S. Navy carrier flight decks before wartime blue deck stains became standard. Exposure to sunlight, salt air, weather, and flight operations could produce variations in teak and weathered wood tones.
 
Historical Information
The USS Hornet (CV-8) was a Yorktown-class aircraft carrier commissioned on October 20, 1941. Although her career lasted barely a year, she participated in several of the Pacific War’s most important early operations.
 
Hornet launched the Doolittle Raid against Japan in April 1942 and fought at Midway and the Santa Cruz Islands. After sustaining severe bomb and torpedo damage at Santa Cruz, she was abandoned and later sunk by Japanese forces.
