Historical Information
The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) is the eighth ship of the Nimitz class. Built by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, she was commissioned on July 25, 1998 and named for the 33rd President of the United States.
Harry S. Truman has supported Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. The carrier also assisted Gulf Coast relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, conducted NATO deterrence operations in Europe following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and flew combat missions from the Red Sea during her 2024–2025 deployment.
