Historical Information
Future USS Enterprise (CVN-80) is the third Gerald R. Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and will carry one of the U.S. Navy’s most historic ship names. Construction is underway at Newport News Shipbuilding, and the ship’s keel-laying ceremony was held in August 2022. Enterprise incorporates lessons from CVN-78 and CVN-79 together with increased use of digital shipbuilding methods and updated Ford-class systems.
