Historical Information

HMS Glorious was built as a First World War light battlecruiser and converted into an aircraft carrier between the wars. During the Norwegian Campaign in 1940 she operated aircraft in support of Allied forces and helped evacuate RAF aircraft from Norway; on 8 June 1940, while returning to Britain, she and her escorts were intercepted and sunk by the German battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
