Historical Information
HMS Furious was one of the Royal Navy’s pioneering aircraft carriers, evolving from a First World War battlecruiser design through several stages of aviation conversion. In World War II she operated off Norway, ferried fighters to Malta, supported Arctic operations, and in 1944 took part in repeated Fleet Air Arm strikes against the German battleship Tirpitz, including Operation Tungsten.
