Historical Information
HMS Formidable (R67) was an Illustrious-class armoured carrier built by Harland & Wolff and commissioned in late 1940. She fought in the Mediterranean, including the Battle of Cape Matapan, survived heavy bomb and torpedo damage, later served with the Eastern Fleet, and in 1945 operated with the British Pacific Fleet off Japan, where her armoured flight deck helped her survive kamikaze attacks.
