Historical Information
The circular red-white-red Turkish aircraft insignia returned in 1972, replacing the red square that had served for several decades. This sheet covers the familiar modern circular treatment.
The change occurred during the Turkish Air Force's Cold War modernization. Aircraft including the F-100, F-104, F-4, F-5, and C-130 carried the national colors in circular form.
Later aircraft, including the F-16 and KC-135, continued the national identity on different airframes and paint schemes. The common design does not imply that insignia size and positioning were identical across the fleet.
Full-color roundels should be distinguished from subdued treatments used on some modern schemes. Compare the chosen aircraft's finish, date, and marking placement before selecting the roundel size.
