The Sukhoi Su-34 "Fullback" is a Russian twin-seat, twin-engine fighter-bomber primarily used for tactical ground attack and precision bombing missions. It has seen extensive service in the Syrian Civil War to support Assad's forces and is currently the workhorse for the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) in the 2022–present invasion of Ukraine. 
Ukraine (2022–present): The Su-34 is actively used for deep strikes, long-range reconnaissance, and bombing missions against Ukrainian infrastructure and military targets.
Syria (2015–present): The aircraft was deployed to the Khmeimim airbase in Syria for ground-attack missions, performing well in a permissive air environment.
Operational Role: Known as a "tanker/bomber," it is designed to carry heavy, precision-guided munitions (over 17,000 lbs) at low altitudes and in adverse weather conditions.
Losses: The aircraft has suffered significant losses in the Ukrainian conflict, with reports suggesting over 30 units have been destroyed, damaged, or abandoned as of 2024. 
 
The Su-34 is designed as a specialist for ground-attack rather than air-to-air combat, prioritizing crew safety (armored cockpit) and range.
