The Su-30SM is a highly agile, twin-seat derivative of the Su-30MKI, featuring thrust-vectoring engines and canards, designed for air-to-air and precision ground-attack roles. The Sukhoi Su-30SM "Flanker-H" is a multirole fighter primarily operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces and Russian Naval Aviation, with extensive use in the Syrian civil war and the 2022-2024 Ukraine conflict. It is also operated by Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Myanmar, featuring advanced maneuverability and ground-attack capabilities.
Key Deployment Areas and Usage:
- Syria: Used extensively by Russian forces for air superiority and strike missions beginning around 2015-2018.
- Ukraine Conflict: Heavily deployed by Russia for combat air patrol, suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD), and maritime strike operations in the Black Sea.
