Historical Background
The SPAD S.XIII was one of the most important French fighter aircraft of the final years of World War I. Introduced during 1917, it combined a powerful Hispano-Suiza engine with strong construction, high speed, and effective twin synchronized machine-gun armament.
The S.XIII equipped large numbers of French fighter units and was also widely used by Allied air services, including the U.S. Air Service during 1918.
