The Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion was a heavy-lift transport helicopter used by the United States and several allied nations for troop transport, cargo movement, aircraft recovery, medical evacuation, and special operations. It first entered combat during the Vietnam War in 1967 and proved especially valuable for lifting heavy equipment and recovering downed aircraft.
