Hawker Sea Hawk FGA.Mk 6, a British carrier-based jet fighter and ground-attack aircraft that entered service in the mid-1950s.
- Primary Role: Ground attack (FGA stands for Fighter/Ground Attack).
- Key Upgrade: Features the more powerful Rolls-Royce Nene 103 turbojet engine, providing 5,200 lbf of thrust.
- Armament: Equipped with four 20 mm Hispano Mk.V autocannons and capable of carrying external stores such as bombs and rockets.
Operational History:
- It was the mainstay of the Indian Navy's first aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, serving from 1960 until replaced by the Sea Harrier in the early 1980s.
- It saw significant use during the Suez Crisis in 1956.
