Historical Background
The Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8 became one of the principal British corps reconnaissance aircraft during the second half of World War I.
The two-seat aircraft served extensively in reconnaissance, aerial photography, artillery observation, and light bombing. It eventually replaced many of the earlier B.E.2 series aircraft in front-line RFC and RAF units.
