The Martin B-57G Canberra, a specialized night-interdictor variant, was primarily used for combat operations in Southeast Asia (Vietnam and Laos), particularly along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Developed for night hunting, it targeted logistical routes to curb supply shipments to South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
- Location: Primarily operated from bases in South Vietnam, including Phan Rang Air Base.
- Target: Primarily deployed against truck traffic on the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos and Vietnam.
- Purpose: The G-model featured advanced sensors, including low-light television, infrared systems, and a laser designator, allowing it to act as a "night intruder" to destroy enemy supply trucks.
- Use Case: It was a modified "sensor-equipped" version of the B-57B (which served from 1965 to 1969), specifically designed to provide nighttime close air support and interdiction.
