Lebed XII (Russian Empire)

Lebed XII (Russian Empire)

$5.00Price

Historical Background

The Lebed XII was a Russian two-seat reconnaissance aircraft produced for the Imperial Russian Air Service during World War I. One of the relatively few domestically developed Russian aircraft to reach series production during the conflict, it drew on experience gained from rebuilding and studying captured German aircraft.

The Lebed XII entered service during the later years of the war and was used for reconnaissance, observation, and training. Operational difficulties limited its front-line career, but it remains an important example of Imperial Russia's wartime aircraft industry.
