Historical Information

Soryu was built at Kure Naval Arsenal as a fast, purpose-built fleet carrier and commissioned in 1937. She formed Carrier Division 2 with Hiryu and became an important part of Japan's mobile carrier striking force before and during the opening months of the Pacific War.
