Historical Information
Kaga was laid down by Kawasaki at Kobe as a Tosa-class battleship and was later selected for conversion into an aircraft carrier. Entering carrier service in 1929 and substantially reconstructed in the 1930s, she became a core unit of Japan's prewar and early-war carrier force.
