Historical Information
HMS Searcher (D40) was an American-built Ruler-class escort carrier commissioned into Royal Navy service on 7 April 1943. She served on Arctic and European operations, including Fleet Air Arm strikes against German naval targets in Norway, and took part in the May 1945 attack at Kilbotn in which U-711 was destroyed; she later sailed for the Far East as the war ended.
