Historical Information
Graf Zeppelin was the only German aircraft carrier launched during World War II. Laid down in 1936 and launched in 1938, she was intended to provide the Kriegsmarine with a true fleet-carrier capability. Construction was repeatedly suspended as German naval priorities shifted, and the ship was never completed or commissioned.
