Decal Information
This 1-3000 scale waterslide decal reproduces the deck markings for the French carrier Bearn during that period of time. Customers report that most decals fit Davco ship castings fairly well. Apply over a properly prepared and gloss-coated model surface using normal waterslide-decal techniques.
Historical Information
Béarn was converted from an unfinished Normandie-class battleship hull and commissioned on 5 December 1927, becoming France’s first completed aircraft carrier. Too slow for modern fleet operations by the late 1930s, she nevertheless played an important wartime transport role, carrying aircraft and French gold across the Atlantic before spending much of the Vichy period at Martinique. After refit she returned to transport duties late in the war and supported French movements to Indochina before being reduced to secondary service and eventually scrapped.
