The F-22 Raptor, primarily an air superiority fighter used exclusively by the U.S. Air Force, saw its combat debut in 2014 in Syria. It has been deployed for combat and air superiority missions in the Middle East, including Iraq and Syria against ISIS, and in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility, with reported activity regarding Iran, Afghanistan, and Venezuela.

  • Syria (2014-Present): The F-22 made its combat debut in September 2014, conducting airstrikes against ISIS, chosen for its ability to evade advanced air defenses.
  • Middle East (General/Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE): Frequently stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar for regional security, deterrence, and strike missions, notably in 2022 and 2025.
  • Iran (2025-2026): Deployed for air operations and strike support in the region.
  • Afghanistan (2017): Used to conduct and support airstrikes against Taliban drug factories.
