The F-15E Strike Eagle, introduced in 1989, has been extensively used by the U.S. Air Force for deep-strike and close-air-support missions in conflicts including Operation Desert Storm (1991), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), Operation Iraqi Freedom, and operations against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. It is also operated by allies in conflict zones, including Saudi Arabia in Yemen and Israel.

Key Deployment Areas and Operations:

  • Middle East: Extensively used in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan for CAS (Close Air Support) and high-value target strikes.
  • Operation Desert Storm (1991): Used to hunt "Scud" mobile missile launchers.
  • Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom: Major roles in both conflicts.
  • Operation Inherent Resolve (2014–present): Strikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
  • Libyan Civil War: Participated in operations.
  • Allied Use: Israel (F-15I) has used them against Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, and threats in Iran. Saudi Arabia (F-15S/SA) used them in the Yemeni conflict.

Key Deployment Locations:

  • Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan: Frequently used for air campaigns in the region.
  • RAF Lakenheath, UK: A primary basing location for US Air Force F-15Es in Europe.
  • Middle East Region (CENTCOM): Active in operations from various bases in the area.

The Strike Eagle is designed for all-weather, day-or-night missions and was brought into service to replace the F-4 Phantom II.
