Historical Background
The Airco D.H.9 was a British two-seat day bomber developed from the successful D.H.4 and introduced during the final year of World War I.
Although its intended engine did not provide the expected performance, the D.H.9 was produced in substantial numbers and served with Royal Air Force squadrons in bombing, reconnaissance, and general-purpose roles during 1918.
