Historical Context
The Dassault Mirage IIIE was the multirole development of the Mirage III family, created to add low-altitude strike capability to the French Mach 2 interceptor design. The IIIE first flew on April 5, 1961 and entered French service during the mid-1960s.
Compared with the Mirage IIIC, the IIIE had a lengthened fuselage, more powerful Atar 9C engine, and expanded navigation and attack electronics. Export customers adapted the basic design into several national variants.

Development and Origin: Developed from the Mirage IIIC to provide a true multirole fighter with improved low-level navigation, strike capability, and greater internal volume for avionics.

Export Service: Mirage IIIE-derived variants served in major regional conflicts with several foreign air forces, including South African, Pakistani, and Argentine operators.
