Europa (CV) Version 1 — 1-2400 Scale Deck Decal
Europa (CV): Variant #1 — 1-2400 Scale Deck Decal
A detailed 1-2400 scale flight deck decal representing the proposed German conversion of the ocean liner Europa into the Hilfsflugzeugträger I auxiliary aircraft carrier.
Historical Information
Europa was a large North German Lloyd passenger liner built by Blohm & Voss and placed in transatlantic service in 1930. In 1942 the Kriegsmarine studied converting her into an auxiliary aircraft carrier, but serious stability, structural, and fuel-consumption concerns caused the project to be cancelled before physical conversion work began. Captured in 1945, Europa served briefly with the U.S. Navy as the troop transport AP-177 before being transferred to France, where she returned to passenger service as Liberté.
